California Bungalow

The Challenge is a monthly event organized by Bauwerk and L&K Prefabs where participating builders have to create an object to fit a randomly generated theme. The second round theme this month is California Bungalow – maybe not the most exotic, but there are some nice items from the participants that should appeal to many (previews can be seen on the website).

The fashion here features great casual items from American Bazaar (including one hunt gift), an excellent free male shape found on MP, new release jeans from KlubWerK (check out the store for a whole bunch of group gifts), more from Mens Dept and BSD Design Studio‘s cute shoes/bag combination from Kawaii Fair (many freebies to be found at the various stands there as well). Also note that some of the furniture blogged below is from the Cookie Jar Spring Festival Hunt, which ends in a few days.

Forgotten Angel

I rarely have time to explore SL’s great Sim designs, but Forgotten City, with its monumental structures, strange machines and misty cobblestone streets, set amidst the ruins of an earlier metropolis, is one that will fire your imagination. You wouldn’t be surprised in a place like this if angels surveyed the streets, forgotten in time and place like the city they inhabit. Bring your camera when you go…

The wings & first three poses shown are a new release from HISPose, one of the best makers specialized in props/poses for men (or angels). The wings are color change and there are actually 6 poses in the set at the very reasonable price of just 100l. The A:S:S kilt & belt is an Avenue Magazine Readers gift found at Zenshi, and the pants are one of the gifts from (Red)Sand for the Hollywood event. If you haven’t been to Hollywood go there before it ends on the 14th – you will be opening “swagbags” from all the participants for days.

Make some noise

It’s almost spring and love is in the air, or maybe not cause it doesn’t feel like spring where I am. But with this endless winter drawing to a close it’s time to make some noise – and that’s what I’m doing thanks to Balaclava‘s cool drums that you can pick up at the Arcade (75l per play). For those who don’t want to try their hand at the Arcade (or are afraid of blowing all their lindens), yard sales are a good alternative. Two well-organized gacha sales with most of what you could want are found here or here.

The Energy Club has been making noise for three years now and to celebrate they have a mess of gifts out. That’s where I got this excellent mesh outfit from D-Style (matching gift for women) as well as the couch from End of Daze (2nd pic), which I previously blogged but now you can get it free. Go check out the club and grab some gifts while you are there.

Also making noise is LaVie. The skin here is a recent group gift (unfortunately no longer available), but I’m told LaVie has a number of projects in the works including new skin releases, group gifts and perhaps a hunt or two. They have recently reopened in a revamped urban style shopping area with a number of top shops. Good to see they are back and bustling again.

Looney Tunes

The Nest’s annual Easter Egg hunt started this weekend and there are some wonderful gifts to be had from select stores on SL’s leading home & decor shopping sim (more previews can be see here). The eggs are hidden throughout the sim, on rooftops and in attics, or scattered in the fields, but they are easily found and there are many of them – most of the participants have put out multiple gifts.

Some of my favorites include the incredibly cute “Eggie” set of mesh figurines from What Next, which range from the dapper Mister Egg to a Geek in goggle glasses or moody Little Miss Monday, who perfectly expresses the Monday-morning blues (there are actually 6 figures to be found – I’ll be going back for my missing egg). Cleo Design’s gifts include a butterfly-laden director’s chair and a colorful set of wall plates that I’ve long needed for my decor and Cheaky Pea’s Mr Whiskers tea set (teapot + cups in a range of colors) should keep you in Earl Grey for days on end.
